Write your own Daycare Policies and Procedures for your daycare.

Here is a list of suggestions you might want to include. Pick and choose which items will work for your business.

  • Your licensing agency will have requirements for your P&P which you will receive with your information packet.
  • Describe your daycare’s daily operation & schedule
  • Ages and number of children licensed for
  • Hours of operation
  • Drop off/Pick up Policy
  • Late Payment Policy
  • Bounced Check Policy
  • Your vacation/sick days
  • Leave of Absence Policy
  • Sick Child Policy
  • Meal & Snack Schedule
  • Nap schedule
  • Supplies provided by the family
  • Transportation Policy
  • Extra fees charged, such as registration, holding or activity fees.
  • Emergency back-up provider
  • Training Record
  • Termination Policy
  • Trial enrollment, if applicable
  • Insurance coverage
  • Any pets present
  • Smoking Policy

When I began my child care business, I wrote my own Policy & Procedures. It was very basic and I found out as I went along that I hadn’t included everything needed to ensure my business ran the way I wanted it to. To this day, fifteen years later, I still make changes, as needed.
