"Pick and Choose the Silver Tips that Work for You"

These are parenting tips to help build a healthy relationship with your child. It's not absolutely essential to use all of them, but it wouldn't hurt.

Silver Key Tip #1:

In the “Heat of the Moment”, Give Yourself a Time-out.

If things are tense and there is a lot of anger in the air, nothing will get accomplished and nothing will get solved. You, as the adult, has to take a deep breath, be willing to walk away while everyone calms down, and then approach the situation again when it is manageable.

Silver Key Tip #3:

Allow the child times when they can show independence.

Silver Key Tip #9:

Have a Good Bedtime Routine.

This is important for multiple reasons.
  • It's stressful for you and your child if bedtime is riot time.
  • A child needs a good night's sleep to be able to behave and function properly the next day.
  • It's one more time that your child will pick to determine who is head of the household. You need to be the authority, run the agenda and take charge of the situation.
