Frozen Snacks

Beat the heat by serving the kids these Frozen Snacks. Some of these recipes are using yogurt, so you can also keep the snacks healthier than serving regular ice cream.

Frozen Yogurt Sandwiches

  • Frozen yogurt, any flavor
  • Cool-Whip
  • Nilla Wafers

Mix equal parts of frozen yogurt with whipped cream.

Place a Nilla Wafer in each compartment of a muffin tin.

Frozen Yogurt Drops

This is really not a recipe at all, but simply a suggestion as a fun way to serve the kids yogurt. Place any flavor yogurt in a plastic baggie. Cut the corner off the baggie and squeeze discs of yogurt onto a cookie sheet. Freeze until firm. Then serve.

Ice Cream in a Bag

  • 1/2 cup half 'n half
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Ice cubes
  • 6 tablespoons Kosher salt
  • 1 quart-sized Zip-Loc
  • 1 gallon-sized Zip-Loc

Add the half 'n half, vanilla and sugar in the quart-sized bag. Place the ice and salt in the gallon bag. Zip both bags securely closed. Place the quart-sized bag in the bag of ice and start shaking. It will take about 5 minutes of vigorous shaking to make ice cream.

After 5 minutes, check on it. If it's still too thin, shake it some more. Let the kids add sprinkles or candies.

Frozen Sweet Tarts

  • 1 pint frozen yogurt, fruit flavored
  • 1 container frozen pink lemonade
  • 8 oz container Cool Whip
  • Nilla Wafers

Let yogurt thaw for 5 minutes. Combine yogurt and juice with a mixer. Stir in the Cool Whip.

Place mixture in a small plastic bag. Cut the corner off and squeeze circles of yogurt onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze until firm.  Then serve.
